Painty Tag

Hi Everyone,

Today I'd like to share a tag I created to join in with the current Paperartsy challenge which is PAINT - to find out more hop on over to their blog HERE

My tag was loosely inspired by Clare Lloyd's project from last night except I swapped out the face for some of Darcy's new flowers.

I used a size 8 tag painted with Little Black Dress then added three of Lin's new colours over the top - Caribbean Sea, Bougainvillea and Tangerine Twist then wiped back some paint using a baby wipe through a TCW harliquin type stencil.

On a piece of smoothy card I used a mix of Banana, Tangerine Twist and Bouainvillea then stamped the flowers from Darcy EDY11 onto this and also onto the tag. I cut out the heads and painted the circles with Snowflake and then added a coat of Metallic Glaze to them.

On the tag I painted the stems first with Snowflake and then with Limelight.

I did some background stamping on the tag using one of the stamps from the same Darcy plate and Snowflake paint.

Then added the now sparkly flower heads to the tag using foam pads.

Quite difficult to catch the nice metallic sheen on the flower heads with the camera!

This is the first time I've tried wiping off paint through a stencil with baby wipes and am very happy with how it turned out :)

Thanks for looking,

Bookish Chickens

Hi All,

Today I want to share the birthday card I've made for my dad :-)

I combined his card with the current challenge over on the Paperartsy blog which is all about paint - click HERE to find out more.

My project was heavily based on Anneke's journal page which I thought was so beautiful, you can visit it HERE. So here it is my take on it:

I used masking tape on the background first and then grunge paste through a JOFY stencil before covering with the new limited edition Lin Brown paints. I kept my design very similar to Anneke's project and used the same colours she did.

I sanded back most of the paint from the grunge paste and stamped the new wicked chickens from new Lin Brown set ELB18 and the sentiment from JOFY26.

I stamped the chickens again onto book paper, cut out and added to the card. Then used Snowflake and Little Black Dress through a TCW stencil.

Finally I added a smudge of charcoal pencil under the chickens to give them something to stand on :-)

To finish I mounted onto some black card and then onto an 8x8 card blank.

Hopefully Dad will like it - it's not really a traditional male card!!

Thanks for looking,

Claire xx

St Valentine has arrived!

Hello,

Well apparently today is the most romantic day of the year.....we don't really buy into the whole Valentine's Day malarky in our house but I did want to make my hubby a card anyway so here it is:

I used some kraft card and stamped and embossed a Teresa Collins sentiment in white. The red heart arrow in the corner is from the same set but stamped with Red Geranium archival.

I added the lace to the side and then stamped and layered the hearts from Paperartsy plate ESN11 using red card.

Added a bit of a hand stitched border with black pen and added to a red card blank.

I'd like to enter my card into the current challenge over on the Artistic Stamper blog which is 'love'

Thanks for stopping by today,

Documented Life Project - Week 5

I'm here again to show you my journal page for Week 5 of the Documented Life Project.

The challenge for Week 5 was:

Art Challenge: Under Paper (paper on your work table that gets all inky while you work)

Journal Prompt: What Lies Beneath?

Here is my finished page:

I took the theme of under paper quite literally and started with a page that had various blobs and blotches of colour on - mostly yellow/oranges and also a bit of purple. I covered most of page with white gesso adding some texture to it using my spatula.

Next I wiped some of the gesso away through a stencil so the under paper colours were visible. The stencil left a lovely imprint in the gesso so I moved it around the other parts of the page too.

I added some Distress Inks when the gesso was dry - I think I used Stormy Sky, Seedless Preserves and Spiced Marmalade. I also splattered some black paint across the page.

I added the various bits of stamping from Paperartsy plate ELB16 by Lin Brown using Cornflower Blue and Smokey Grey. Then stamped out the flower and stalk from the same plate onto a scrap of underpaper that was created from my week 4 DLP page.

I cut out the flower and stem and added them to my page.

Then added the two chit chat stickers and smudged a bit of charcoal pencil around them.

Thanks for stopping by today - to find out more about this project you can hop on over to the blog HERE

Documented Life Project - Week 4

I'm a smidge behind with the DLP but am hoping to catch up soon!!
Here is my take on the Week 4 challenge - this week the theme was:
Art Challenge: Writing
Journal Prompt: Words with Friends
I made this page about my sister - Tara.
The photo is from a trip to Liverpool we took together and had such a good time.
I started the page by writing out a whole page of 'stuff' about Tara - I had hoped some of the handwriting would still show through at the end but I seem to have obliterated it with paint!
Here is how the page started out - all the paints are Paperartsy Fresco Finish paints, the background colours are two new releases - Caribbean Sea and Bourganvialla added using a baby wipe:
Next I added some stamping using a set from Inkylicious and Cornflower Blue archival and Versafine Smokey Grey:
The quote and 'my sister' sentiment I cut out from the front of a birthday card Tara gave me which I thought was appropriate! Also the little crystal heart in the bottom corner was on the card so I prised that off and added it also.
I added some black scribbly pencil with a Stabilo All pencil and added water, I also added tiny doodles around the page with black and white pens.
Finally I added a few chit chat stickers from Tim Holtz with a little black pen around them to help them stand out.
Do pop over to the Art From The 5th Blog HERE to check out other challenges and to see the beautiful sample pages over there.

Altered Calendar - February

Hi All,

Today I'm sharing my altered calendar page for February.

To see Darcy's calendar this month and to find out more about this challenge just click HERE

The requirements she set for this month are:

  • Keep a part of the original picture and incorporate that into your design
  • Technique - Paint effect caused by using clingfilm or bubble wrap
  • Add some corrugated card
Here is how my calendar started out:

And here is how it finished up - quite a difference!

I started by adding masking fluid circles to the sky as it was just such lovely colours. While that was drying I created the water effect by adding Carribean Sea, Bora Bora and Snowflake then scrunching cling film on top and leaving to dry.

I created the main background using Vintage Lace, Sky and South Pacific and a baby wipe then pulled off the masking fluid. I added smudged black pencil around the circles using a Stabilo All pencil.

I stamped the birds from Paperartsy plate EDY10 and the twiggy image from hot picks plate 1008.

The house (brand new JOFY 29) and sentiment (Hot picks 1007) were stamped onto smoothy card and dictionary paper. I painted the house using Cherry Red, French Roast, Tangerine Twist and Toffee.

I added the house onto the page onto of some torn dictionary paper 'hills'

I cut a scalloped corrugated card border and brayered Snowflake over it then added it to the calendar.

Finally I added the sentiment and all done for another month!

Thanks for looking!

I Saw That...

Hello and welcome to my blog today!

Today I'm sharing another shiny style tag to join in the current theme over on the Paperartsy blog HERE

This tag was most definitely inspired by the wonderful clock created by Lou Collins as part of the shiny challenge which you can see HERE

I loved the clock Lou did but was too nervous to do a home decor project straight away so decided to try it out on a tag first:

I used exactly the same colours as Lou; Bora Bora, Slate, Toffee and Old Gold in the same way she did in the step by steps on the PA blog.

I stamped the film strip and sentiment straight onto the tag using black archival. Then stamped the cameras twice onto a piece of card painted with Old Gold and cut out and layered.

All the stamps were from the Paperartsy Hot Picks 1305 stamp plate.

To finish I added Treasure Gold Renaissance around the edges with my finger and a piece of paper gold raffia to the top.

I love the patina colour effect this paint technique created and it's something I'll deffo try again on different substrates and projects!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Discover Dreams!

Hi All,

Thanks for dropping by today!

I'm sharing a tag I created to join in with the current shiny theme over on the Paperartsy blog - you can find out more about the challenge HERE

This week over on their blog sees the release of tons of new goodies so do pop over and check them out!

It's a size 8 manilla tag, I painted with three Fresco paints in Lake Wanaka, Sky and Marlin.
I spread some grunge paste through a Finn Prima stencil and sprinkled with silver embossing powder and heated.
I sprayed the tag with blue mica spray and flicked some Little Black Dress at it also.
I stamped the image from Paperartsy Mini 09, coloured and cut out. Some Tim Holtz tissue tape was added to the tag and edged with Black Soot distress ink. Then added the image with foam pads.

I added and distressed the chit chat stickers. Then finally added the eyelet and ribbon to the top of the tag.
Bye for now!
