Hi Everyone,
Welcome to my blog!
The current challenge over on the Paperartsy blog is all about masking. You can see all the info HERE
My good crafty friend Hazel has been trying out a lot of techniques with masking fluid HERE. I have a bottle of masking fluid which I think I may have used once upon a time so thought I would dig it out and have another go.
I decided to use one of Lin Brown's stencils - I pondered how best to add my masking fluid and decided on using a small piece of cut and dry foam. I think I may have used a bit too much as I did get a little seepage (it is quite runny) but it kind of adds to the effect! At least that's what I'm telling myself anyway!!
Once the masking fluid was dry I sprinkled on Infusions in Royal Blue, A Bit Jaded and Black Knight and spritzed with water.
I blotted it a bit so the colours weren't too dominant. Once the page was dry I rubbed off the masking fluid - it came away really easily, much better than distant memories of using it before. Maybe this is because I only got a very thin layer on the page due to the cut and dry foam?
I stamped the sentiment from Lin Brown set ELB33 in black archival. I added a shadow to the flowers using a charcoal pencil and smudged it with a blending stump. Then added a smudgy charcoal border around the page to frame it.
I enjoyed my little experiment and as I washed my stencil straight away it is perfectly fine.
Thanks for looking,
Claire Xx
It turned out well Claire. Looks really effective. Glad that I inspired you! Xx
ReplyDeleteDon't know where the question marks came from! Xx 😀
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous Claire. I love that infusions background it makes the stencil pop! Love it!

ReplyDeleteGorgeous, Claire. I love the charcoal pencil edge, which really makes the masked images stand out. xx

Claire,
ReplyDeleteThis turned out beautiful.
I would never have thought to put the masking fluid through a stencil so thank you for the inspiration on your gorgeous project x
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful, Claire!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove it Claire! xx
ReplyDeleteI rather like the jagged edge of the "seeping" for an artsy look. I never would have thought of sponging masking fluid through a stencil. These topics certainly make us scratch our heads, don't they! LOL! I love reading everyone's ideas. Beautiful result! Hugs, Autumn
ReplyDeleteThe masking looks good with the Infusions... If you ever had difficulty with removing masking fluid from paper, remember to take it off as soon as possible and preferably within a day or two.
ReplyDeleteFabulous ! Love how you used the infusions... I just can't get on with them.. too unpredictable for me ! lol
