Altered Art at The Crafting Cafe + a DT Call

Hi Everyone

Today I am sharing my DT make over at The Crafting Cafe Blog - click HERE to visit the challenge blog.

The theme for September is 'Altered Art' and this month we are sponsored by Delicious Doodles.

Teri is very kindly offering a prize of
4 of her beautiful digi images to one lucky winner!

I decided to alter an empty hot chocolate container and turn it into a pen pot for my desk:

I printed my digi stamp from Delicious Doodles onto SplodgeAway High Res card and coloured it using Dewent Inktense watercolour pencils.
I cut it to the same size as the hot chocolate container and attached it using extra strong tape.
I then added the green ribbon around the bottom of the tin and the pale blue ribbon at the top.
And that's it - a beautiful pen pot!

We are also having a Design Team call out for the team for a six month term - visit the challenge blog to find out all the details!

Autumnal Card

Hi Everyone

Today I would like to share a very autumnal feeling card I made.

I created my card my using distress inks in the following colours on my background: Antique Linen, Vintage Photo, Spiced Marmalade, Rusty Hinge and Fired Brick.  I then used the same colours to stamp the background tape measure stamp from DoCrafts.  Next I added the crackle stamp by IndigoBlu.  The letters and numbers are by Paperartsy and were stamped in Spiced Marmalade.  Next I used black archival to stamp the flower, hand and sentiment all from Paperartsy.  I coloured the flower using slightly watered down Smoked Paprika Fresco Finish paint and the hand was done in the same way but with Snowflake paint.  I flicked water at the card and blotted to create some more interest on the background too.
Finally I matted the piece onto brown cardstock before attaching to a 8x8 card blank.

I would like to enter my card in the following challenges:
  • Paperartsy - inspired by Alison, click here for all the details
  • The Artistic Stamper - autumn challenge, click here for the challenge details
  • Country View Crafts - this months challenge is layers, all the details can be found here

Dictionary Challenge - Letter Z

So it's time again for a new letter over at The Craft Barn.  This time the letter is Z so not too many words to chose from!  To see all the details for the challenge (it's not too late to join in!) click HERE

I struggled with what word to chose but in the end I went with 'Zombie'

I masked the definition of the word zombie then I inked my pages using distress inks in pumice stone, crushed olive, weathered wood and black soot.  I stamped the wavy pattern from clarity in black versafine and then stamped the crackle by indigoblu in crushed olive.  My zombie image is a digi stamp from The Octopode Factory called Zombie Betty Beauty - she's quite a glamorous zombie!!  I printed her out normally and then flipped her in photoshop and printed her out again as I wanted them both facing each other.  I coloured them both in exactly the same with promarkers, cut them both out and glued to my pages.
To finish off I highlighted the definition with a black pen.

PaperArtsy 3UP Challenge

Hey Everybody!!

The PaperArtsy brand is celebrating it's 10th birthday and I was lucky enough to get selected in this round of #3UP #PAtwits week of show and tell with a surprise parcel of PaperArtsy products, and this is what I have made :

My special PaperArtsy 3Up parcel contained a paper mache wall hanging and my colour swatch was reds, oranges and yellows. These are colours I usually steer well clear off – but this is a challenge and so I started by  using Fresco Finish paints in the following colours to create the background on my wall hanging: Pumpkin Soup, Blood Orange, Claret, Zesty Zing and Smoked Paprika.
I put these onto my wall hanging using cut and dry foam and blended them into each other while still wet.  The stamps I got in my parcel were from the JOFY collection.  I stamped the main image onto tissue paper using black versafine ink and heat set.  I then coloured the image using slightly watered down Fresco Finish paints in the same colours as the background colours.  I stamped the sentiment from the JOFY set using black versafine also.  I then stamped some extra stars onto the heavyweight smoothy card, coloured them in the same way as I did the main image on the tissue paper, and cut them out.  I stamped the circles from the stamp set straight onto the edges of the wall hanging using Honey Dew Fresco Finish paint – then to blend this into the whole project I added a little Pumpkin Soup over the top to embed it into the background.  I plucked around the edges of my stamped tissue paper and then added it to my wall hanging using matte glue and seal.  I then added Treasure Gold in Renaissance around the edges of the wall hanging and blended with my finger.  Finally I added the stars in the bottom corner to finish off my project.

I hope you enjoyed my project – it was great to be involved in the PaperArtsy Birthday 3UP!

SplodgeAway Create and Craft Samples

Hi everyone

Well it's been a busy few weeks over the summer with weddings and a fantastic trip to Rome!  So I've been a very bad blogger but now that everything is getting back into a routine hopefully I will keep my blog up to date too!!

So while I was away in Rome Tom and Hazel have been on Create and Craft with another show.

I made a few samples for the show before I went and took very, very quick photos of them before I popped them in the post - but even though the pictures aren't great I thought I would share them on here anyway.

So some great masks on the new release again!  If you want to find out more about the masks click HERE to visit the SplodgeAway website.  Or if you fancy seeing what the other ladies on the design team came up with for the show click HERE to visit the SplodgeAway blog :)

Thanks for dropping by today, Claire xx
