Trying a new technique....

Hi Everyone,

The current topic on the Paperarsty blog is all about image transfers. You can check out all the projects on their blog by clicking HERE.

I have never, ever attempted an image transfer before so this was all new to me....I decided to go with a gel media transfer technique after finding a lovely image of some flowers in a magazine.

I did not expect it to work on my first attempt so was pretty surprised when I ended up with this (I also had very sore fingers!):

So then I needed to decide what to do with it.....so turned it into a journal page. The first step was to add some colour to the page, I used Fresco paints in Chalk, Elephant and Slate:

I added some background stamping using second generation ink with some Finnabair texture stamps and also the number stamp from the new Paperartsy Everything Art stamp set.

Then I stamped the other images in purple and green versafine - these are from an Inkylicious stamp set:

The sentiment is from a Lin Brown set, stamped in black archival - I also stamped the word Hydrangea.

Finally I edged the page with Little Black Dress Fresco paint.

Was quite fun, I think I will try image transferring again :-)

Wanderlust Journal

Hello and welcome to my blog today.

I've been playing along with the year long mixed media online course - Wanderlust - since the start of the year.

Today I'd like to share a page created in my journal as part of the course, the prompt was to write a lot - which I think I achieved!

Background created with Paperartsy Fresco paints in Granny Smith, Turquoise and Chalk.

Background stamping, and stamping down the sides using the new stamps released by Paperartsy in conjunction with Everything Art. Added a little bit of stencilling as well with a Dylusions stencil.

Words were done using a black Pitt pen - I love this song by Adele so felt it appropriate for this journal prompt.

A little bit of page edging with a grey Pitt pen as I thought black would distract from the lettering.

Thanks for looking,

Final circle journal page

Hello,

This is the final page I created as part of a Paperartsy themed circle journal:

This page was created in Gabby's journal and now that it has arrived safely at her house I can share it on here.

Used Paperartsy Frescos in Turquoise and Chalk for the background.

Added some stamping with the new Everything Art Paperartsy stamp set.

For the focal point I added some old scraps of scrapbooking paper and some washi, then stamped the face image on a piece of cotton. I added some red paint on the reverse of the cotton to add colour to her lips.

Added some grunge paste on the left hand page and dry brushed with Coral FF.

The quote is a Tim Holtz Chit chat sticker cut up and edged, it says - live each day with grace and authenticity.

I added a little tab with my name and date created on and then edged the pages with black ink.

Now the circle is complete Chris is busily organising a new circle for all us Paperartsy fans - so watch this space!

Round in Circles

Hi Everyone,

Today I'm sharing a card I made for my Dads birthday which was the other day.

I used some new stamps from Paperartsy which were designed by Kim Dellow:

I created the background stamping in distress inks - squeezed lemonade, crushed olive and blueprint sketch - from stamp plate EKD01.
Added a little bit of stencilling with one of Darcy's newest stencil releases for Paperartsy.

Stamped the trees in the foreground and coloured with distress markers.

The hedgehogs and clouds were stamped on separate card then added with foam pads.

The sentiment stamps are by Waltzing Mouse, stamped in black archival.

Distressed the edges with vintage photo then mounted and added to a 7x7 card blank.

I'm linking my card to the current challenge over at the That's Crafty Challenge Blog - the theme is circles and I certainly have a lot of those going on on this card! You can find out all the challenge info HERE

Circle Journal - The End!

Hi Everyone,

Today marks the end of our Paperartsy themed circle journal adventure!

Several months ago seven of us set out on this journey together and I now have received my original journal back again, after going on its travels all around the UK.

It is full of amazing artwork and such wonderful textures that it's a shame you all can't touch it lol!

So I thought I would share the pages with you all......so here is the cover and the first page, which I created:

The journal rules are on a mini tag in the little envelope:

Next in the circle was Gabrielle's funky and tropical feeling page:

Then it was over to Linda for her monochromatic blue themed pages:

Next up was the circle instigator - Chris, wonderful textures here as the faces are stamped onto fabric:

Then it moved on to Jules with this colourful background and lovely lady:

And then to Catherine, lots of grunge paste on this spread - love how textured her plait is:

And then last but not least was Clare with this wonderful blue haired lady:

It was a lovely experience and I'm so pleased I took part. Lovely surprise to come home from work to find another beautiful journal on the mat each time.

I would very much like to take part again in the future when Chris organises the next one :-)

Beeswax on a Sunday Afternoon!

Hi Everyone,

The theme over on the Paperartsy blog this fortnight is 'wax'

To find out more details click HERE

I created another loose journal page:

I started by adding Fresco paints in Chutney, Pumpkin Soup, Chalk, Seaweed and Chatreuse. Then added stencilling with a TCW stencil and French Roast and Chalk paint along with some background stamping from Paperartsy HotPicks set HP1501:

Then I added the main images in black archival from Paperartsy HotPicks set HP1506:

Next was the beeswax - a new experience for me!

I struggled to get an even layer over the whole page - there was a lot of reheating going on and wax everywhere lol!

But after some persistence I'm really happy with my page - I love the muted look the wax gives to the page and also how it feels, such a different texture to normal pages.

Here's a couple of close ups to try to show the waxy layer:

Happy V Day

Hello,

Quick post today to share the Valentines Day card I made for my hubby. We're not really big fans of Valentines Day and don't exchange gifts or anything but we do usually get each other a card.

Here is the one I made for him using Dina Wakley stamps:

Coloured it using Dylusions inks with a paint brush and water.

Then added a nice thick layer of glossy accents to the heart to give it some dimension, which is really hard to photograph.....

Thanks for looking, I'm going to link it to the current challenge over at the Thats Crafty challenge blog where the theme is love and romance - check it out HERE.

Hearty Tag!

Hi Everyone and thanks for dropping in today.

Here is a tag I created after watching Leandra from Paperartsy demo on Periscope with some new stamps by one of their designers - Darcy Wilkinson.

Created the background in the same way Leandra did using cut and dry foam with Caribbean Sea and Teresa Green Fresco paints. Whitewashed it using water and Snowflake.

A bit of background stamping with frond type things and a texture type stamp from Darcy plate EDY11 and some stencilling through a Lin Brown stencil was added before another wash of watery Snowflake to knock it back some more.

I stamped the focal image from Darcy plate EDY10 and painted it using Pumpkin Soup, Smoked Paprika, Snowflake, Pea Coat and Hey Pesto.

Added the quote from Sara Naumann plate ESN11 and then a few white dots here and there.

Mounted onto black card, added the eyelet and some ribbon and that was it finished.

I'm linking this to the current Paperartsy challenge which is hearts - you can find out all the details HERE.

Thanks for looking,
